Dixie Jane Cooper died in the arms of Christ her savior on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Kingston of Ashland in the care of Hospice of North Central Ohio.

She was born at home in Rowsburg, on Sept. 13, 1933, to Cleon and Dorothy (Brandt) Humrichouser.

A graduate of Ashland High School, she married Eugene Gilbert Cooper on June 23, 1951. Mr. Cooper predeceased her.

Mrs. Cooper was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to sons, Garry of Ashland and his son Ryan of Lexington, Rollin and his wife, Judith Cooper, and their children Jordan (Katie) of Athens and Maggie of Akron; and daughter, Jayne Feathers of West Lafayette, Ind., and her stepson, Brian (Melissa) of Noblesville, Ind.

Mrs. Cooper enjoyed working with people and was retired from 40 years as a medical assistant for physicians and psychologists. Family was the center of her life and she attended many baseball games and music performances of her children. She loved playing on the floor with grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed playing host to family meals on any occasion. Reunions, showers and other special family events were a particularly happy time in Dixie's life.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her children and grandchildren; sisters, Hallie Strine of Ashland, Sally (Ronny) Wiley of Polk and Peggy Denholm of Akron; brothers-in-law, Frank Magnanelli of Bethesda, Md., Dean (Tessie) Cooper of Wooster and Howard (Karen) Cooper of Millersburg; and sisters-in-law, Mary Humrichouser of Rowsburg and Tessie Humrichouser of Warren, Mich.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by her son-in-law, Ron Feathers; sister, Joan Magnanelli; and brothers, John, Jim, Jack, Richard R. (Dick) and Ted Humrichouser.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Rowsburg Lutheran Church, 137 County Road 1302, Polk, with the Rev. Robert Pflueger officiating.

Family will receive friends and guests one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Rowsburg Lutheran Church; Rowsburg Cemetery Association, 1541 County Road 251, Jeromesville, Ohio 44840 or a charity of the donors' choice.
