Gonzales - Last rites were held Tuesday, February 28, 1967 at 10 a.m. from Seydler Chapel for Mrs. Jake Cizek who died in the Holmes Memorial Hospital, Gonzales at 4:40 p.m. Sunday, February 26 following a long period of ill health. She reached the age of 83 years, 10 months and 21 days.
The Rev. Floyd Whatley, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, conducted the services with burial taking place in the City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cizek was born in Lavaca County on April 5, 1883, the daughter of John and Johanna (Mikes) Pavliska, natives of Czechoslovakia.
Mrs. Cizek nee Zofie Pavliska was married in Shiner in 1900 to Jake Cizek who preceded her in death on November 11, 1959. Also preceding her in death was one son, Jake Cizek, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Adolph J. (Hattie) Marek, Mrs. Hoyet (Lily) Wilson, both of Gonzal;es; Mrs. O. T. (Laura) Cagle of Luling; three grandchildren, Mrs. Jerry (Laura) Bivins, Thomas Wilson, Gonzales; and Mrs. Howard (Martha) Eckols of Houston: four great-grandchildren one sister and two brothers.
Pallbearers included Rudolph Marek, Louis Huhs, Thomas Wilson, Jerry Bivins, Howard Eckols and Fred Havel, Sr.
