Professional Basketball Player. A longtime star of the WNBA she held the league record for shot blocks. Born Malgorzata Dydek, the tallest of three very tall sisters, the 7'2" Margo was raised in Poland, learned five languages, and played basketball in Europe before being chosen by the Utah Starrz as the first pick of the 1998 WNBA draft. Over her career she played in 323 games, scored 3,220 points, and blocked 877 shots for the Starrz, the San Antonio Silver Stars, the Connecticut Sun, and, briefly, the Los Angeles Sparks, taking time out to represent Poland in the 2000 Olympics. Following her 2008 retirement Margo moved to Brisbane, Australia, where she was head coach of the Northside Wizards. She died a week after a heart attack suffered early in her third pregnancy.
