CARLISLE - Lois Barlow Allison, 87, passed away on Tue, May 24, 2011 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home. She was born May 31, 1923 in Nicholas Co. To the late Floyd "Soup" Barlow and Effie Snapp Barlow and was a graduate of Headquarters High School. She married Howard Allison, Jr., settling in the Saltwell community to raise their family. They spent 56 wonderful years together before his passing in 2001. She was a Nicholas Co. Deputy Clerk for 13 years and later worked as a nurses aide for 11 years at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home where she trained many of those who would later care for her. Survivors include a sister, Sue Rule, a son, Larry J. (Sally) Allison, a daughter, Diana (Mike) Phillips, 7 grandchildren, Scot Russell Allison, Bradley Barlow (Stacey) Allison, Whitney Cox (Laura Best) Allison, Allison Grant (William) Earlywine, Jay Ryan (Michelle) Grant, Ray (Tammy) Phillips and J. Patrick (Amanda) Phillips and 6 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Foster Barlow who died at birth. Services will be conducted 2pm Fri from the Mathers-Gaunce Chapel by Rev. Rocky Wallace and Rev. James Gaunce. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Scot and Bradley Allison, William Earlywine, Harry Feeback, Jay Grant, Nelson Henson and J. Patrick and Ray Phillips. Memorial contributions are suggested to Carlisle United Methodist Church, 102 W. Chestnut Street, Carlisle, KY 40311 or Saltwell United Methodist Church, c/o Joyce Smith, 670 Morning Glory Road, Cynthiana, KY 41031. Visitation will be after 5pm Thu at the funeral home.
