Marab E. Harlan was born May 29, 1858, in Henry county, Iowa, and passed away in the hospital at Albia, Ia, July 18, 1942, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to William W. Anderson, on Dec 23, 1875, and moved to Page county, Iowa, March 1, 1876, where they lived on a farm until they moved to New Market, Ia, in 1903. New Market was her home until her husband died Jan 1, 1936, nine days after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Since then she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs O.A. Herriman, with the exception of extended visits with her sons.
There were five sons and four daughters, three of whom preceded her in death, Florence, Nina Bell, and Naomi.
Those living to mourn her death are Eddie S. of Onaga, Kans, Verner J. of Albia, Ia, Lee of New Market, Ia, Clarence E. of McMinnville, Ore, Myrtle of Maryville, Mo and Merrill W. of Shenandoah, Ia.
