Dan Curtis, of San Marcos, passed away May 12, 2011. Born December 11, 1933 in Los Angeles, Dan had been in San Diego County since 1967. He was retired from Continental Baking Company but was currently working, as a food scientist, for American Bounty which he said were the best people he had ever met. They called him the "Colonel Sanders of snack food". As well, Dan served in the US Air Force. He was a man of great compassion, love, generosity and just left people with a positive feeling about themselves and the world around them. He enjoyed cooking for his family that he loved so much.

Dan is survived by his children Randy (Janice) Curtis of Bull Head City, AZ, Elizabeth Curtis of Santee, Mary Kendrick of San Marcos, Melanie (Shawn) Collins of Santee, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, former wife and mother of his children JoAnn Byers of San Marcos, sisters Dorothy Anderson of Anaheim, Sally Curtis of Bull Head City, AZ , Rosa (Bill) Horne of Bull Head City, AZ. Dan was predeceased by his son Billy Dan Curtis, sisters Leta Joyce Curtis and Sue Curtis, parents Leta and Arthur Curtis and son in law Craig Kendrick.

A visitation will be held at Bonham Bros. & Stewart Mortuary Chapel on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11am with a funeral service following at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Miramar National Cemetery, following the service, at 2pm. Rev Fred Schaeffer officiating.
