MONTICELLO - Eloise C. Brown, age 96 of Monticello, IL, formerly of Green Bay, WI, died at 7:55 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2007 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Memorial services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Brown was born November 21, 1910 at White Heath, Illinois, a daughter of Homer H. and Lola A. Furnish Combes. She married Roy R. Brown on September 26, 1937 in White Heath. He died in 1987. They had no children.
Survivors include nephews Randall Vance and Larry Vance both of Monticello; nephew D. Russel Vance of East Peoria, six great nieces and nephews, ten great great nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law Ruth Gentry of Crawfordsville, Indiana. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.
Mrs. Brown, affectionately known as "Biddy" in Illinois and "Brownie" in Wisconsin, was a secretary for four employers during her 47 year working career: Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin; Equitable Life Ins. Co.; Bailey and Himes Co. and State Farm Ins. Co. She was a longtime member and officer of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Professional Women's Sorority; Secretary and Board Member of Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary at Green Bay and she was active in myriad wildlife and environmental concerns.
She enjoyed flower gardening, memorabilia collecting, crafts, bowling (until age 84), her companion dogs, bird-watching and following the Green Bay Packers.
