William Wesley "Bill" Behnen, 79, of Carrollton, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. John Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
A Korean Army veteran, he was a retired grain and livestock farmer.
Born Jan. 18, 1930 in Jacksonville, he was the son of the late William and Elsie (Darr) Behnen. He married Doris M. Nevius Aug. 6, 1953 in California and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard Wm. (Shirley) Behnen and Nathan Ora Behnen, all of Carrollton; three daughters, Sharon Sue (Larry) Albrecht of Strausstown, Pa., Sheryl Joan (Robert) Carmody of Murrayville, and Terry Lou (David) Flatt of Carrollton; a brother, John (Nancy) Behnen of Carrollton; four sisters, Mary Darwent and Elizabeth Brown, both of Jacksonville, Helen (Larry) Copley of Eldred, and Carol (Archie) Heberling of White Hall: 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Monday, June 22, 2009 at Eldred Memorial Cemetery in Eldred. Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin is in charge of arrangements.
