She was born in Grayson County on November 19, 1916, the daughter of John Reilly and Anna Lee Pullen Basham. She was a homemaker who loved working in her yard. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #436, VFW Ladies Auxilliary, and the Presbyterian faith. Hazel became known as "The Banana Lady" because she delivered bananas to the nursing home on a regular basis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Hartsell Huffines; and a granddaughter, Larleta Bogard.
She is survived by two children, Randy Huffines of Harned, and Barbara Ann Woosley of Boston, Ky.; four grandchildren, Ranzel and Banean Hale, Randi Kay Flood and LaRay Huffines, eight great-grandchildren, Cricket, Austin and Shelby Hale, Reba Bogard, Cody, Cassidy and Delaney Flood and Kolby Huffines
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, in Hardinsburg, Ky., with Bro. Gary Stevenson officiating.
Burial will be in the Harned Cemetery.
Visitation on Sunday from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m., and after 8:30 a.m. Monday.
