Mrs. Sarah Byer Roth, 87, widow of Reuben D Roth, died this morning at 1:00 at her home in Mummasburg from a heart condition. She had been in ill health seven weeks and was bedfast two days.
The deceased was born in Highland township, a daughter of the late Christian and Elizabeth Orner Byer. Her early life was spent in Adams County. She married Jacob Pfoutz and went west to Franklin Grove, Illinois, and later to Des Moines, Iowa, where Mr. Pfoutz died. She returned to Adams County and married Reuben G Roth, a Civil War veteran, in 1886 who died January, 1924. Mrs. Roth was the last surviving member of her family.
She was a member of the Mummasburg Mennonite church.
Surviving are two daughters and a son; Mrs. Floyd C Baker (Alora), Fairfield, Dennis D Roth, Atlantic City, and Miss Lula Roth, at home. Three grandchildren also survive; Robert & Violet Roth, and Roy Baker.
Funeral services from the late home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by the Rev. A.W. Myer, assisted by the Rev. E.W. Brindle. Interment in Mennonite cemetery. Mummasburg.
