Mrs. Mae Floyd Abel, 122 South Maple street, Oak Park, died in Billings hospital, Chicago, Friday afternoon. She had been ill for 18 months.
Mrs. Abel was born in Carbondale and lived there until 1940. She was an English teacher in the Oak Park high school before she became ill. She was married in Sept. 1919, to Loren Abel, who died in 1936.
Mrs. Abel leaves a sister, Mrs. Lillian Wells, Bloomington, and three brothers, Alfred T. Floyd, John W. Floyd, Decatur; and Raymond C. Floyd, Wood River.
Funeral services will be held Sunday in Oak Park. The body will arrive in Carbondale Monday and services will be held at the Huffman funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery, Carbondale.
