Funeral Services for G. W. McVay, Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, Retired, 78, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 8, 2011 at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Charles Dupree and Matthew Lord officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Mr. McVay was born on December 13, 1932 in Oak Grove, LA and passed away on May 3, 2011. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of meritorious service as Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, receiving the Bronze Star and the Air Force Honor Medal for his service. Mr. McVay was a member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He was a quiet, gentle, loving man, who was a dedicated husband, father, and Papa.

Mr. McVay is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ola McVay and by his sisters, Norma Jean Jordan and Nita White.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janice Sellers McVay; children, David McVay and wife, Sigrid, Lisa Lord and husband, Clay, Lea Ann Avery and husband, Jack, Marc McVay and wife, Wendi and Tami Morris and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Matthew Lord, Sarah Hyatt, Leslie Newbold, Drew Avery, Austin and Landon Morris, and Christian and Anna Grace McVay; great grandchildren, Noah, Eli and Evie Lord, Claire, Isabella, Naomi and Amelia Hyatt; sisters, Irene Monk, JoAnn Barlow and Sadie Carson.

Pallbearers will be Michael Chapman, Richie Chapman, Drew Avery, David Newbold, Jason Hyatt, and Irving Sills. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult Three Men's Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Mr. McVay shall be remembered as a man who dearly loved and served his country, family and his Lord.
