She was born March 25, 1959 in Valparaiso to George and Beulah (Harness) Becker and graduated from LaPorte High School in 1977.
She had been a line worker at Opportunity Enterprises in Valparaiso for the past 30 years, participated in Special Olympics, served as an Opportunity Enterprises Advocate, was a member of Aktion Club, Salem United Church of Christ and participated as a Tender Hearts clown. However, it was her love of animals, particularly cats, that was the passion of her life.
Survivors include her mother, Beulah Becker of Union Mills, father, George Becker of LaCrosse, sisters: Gerri Kubal of Valparaiso, Rachel (Duane) Werner of Westville, brother, W. Drew (Paula) Becker of Davidson, NC, two nieces and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 1:30 pm at Salem United Church of Christ, 302 S. Main St., Wanatah, Rev. Carol Nordstrom officiating with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 5 – 8 pm at Wanatah Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Independent Cat Society, P.O. Box 735, Westville, IN 46391.
