Randy Clarence Gilmore was born on 15 October 1967 in South Rockwood, Michigan and attended Ritter Elementary School until 1978 when his family moved back to their native Vanleer (Dickson County), Tennessee. He graduated from Dickson High School and worked as a nurse. He lived most of his life in Vanleer (Dickson County), Tennessee.

Randy was the son of Freeman Mitchell Gilmore (b: 11 August 1927 in Vanleer (Dickson County), Tennessee / d: Monday, 20 February 2012 in a Nashville, Tennessee Hospital after surgery) and Marjorie N Vandergiff (b: 22 April 1926 in Hohenwald (Lewis County), Tennessee / d: 29 July 1992 in Dickson (Dickson County), Tennessee). Randy was the youngest of three children with two older sisters, Cindy Darlene (Parish) Gilmore and Sherry Lynn Gilmore. He also had step-siblings.

Randy was killed in a head on collision on Old Columbia Road in Dickson (Dickson County), Tennessee on Saturday, 24 August 1991 at the hands of another inattentive driver. He was most likely killed instantly, but pronounced dead in the Goodlark Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Taylor Funeral Home tended to him and conducted his funeral.

His funeral was packed as friends and relatives, showing up from as far away as Nashville, Tennessee. He was an incredibly talented, loving, sincere and humble individual who will continue to be missed. Rest in peace in the hands of Jesus my friend, May God continue to bless you forever.
