Shirley Ann Yankey, age 72, died on April 28, 2011 at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Va.

She was born on May 24, 1938 in Washington, D.C. to the late Fred Clinton and Anna Barbara (Smith) Jones.

Mrs. Yankey is 3rd generation lifelong resident of Nokesville, Va. who enjoyed farming and drag racing. After retiring from Atlantic Research Corporation she worked for 11 years at Prince William Hospital as a switchboard operator.

She is predeceased by her husband, Leonard Blane Yankey, Sr. Survivors include her son: Leonard Blane Yankey, Jr. and wife Charlene of Nokesville, Va.; two grandchildren, Devin Yankey and wife Jessica of Rixeyville, Va. and Kalisha Yankey of Madison, Alabama; three great- grandchildren: Seth, Skylar and Summer Yankey all of Rixeyville, Va.; two brothers, Fred Jones and wife Vicki and Roger Jones and wife Susan all of Nokesville, Va. and one sister, Ruth Gresham of Forsyth, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 2, 2011 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Va. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Pierce Chapel with Pastor Justin Allen and Mrs. Karen Burgess officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Va.
