W. Harvey Osborne and Miss Oma (Omey) Caudill surprised their many friends by quietly slipping away to Bristol last Tuesday where they were married. They returned to the home of Mr. Osborne's parents Tuesday evening, where a sumptuous dinner was prepared for the occasion. After dinner their friends gathered and gave them an old time serenade, and received a sample of the wedding cake.

Graham Man Employed as a Carpenter on New Hotel Building Dies.
MANY WITNESS GRUESONE DESCENT OF UNFORTUNATE
Apparently Osborne's Foot Slipped as He Was About to Leave Second Floor on Way to Lunch—Osborne Well Known and Liked Throughout This Section.
W. Harvey Osborne, of Graham, a carpenter employed by Hancock and Sons Contractors engaged in the construction of the Hotel Bluefield, met horrible death yesterday when he tumbled head foremost through a ladder hole at the hotel building, a distance of about thirty feet, landing on his head.
There were a dozen or more witnesses to the tragedy but careful inquiry failed to disclose just what caused Osborne to fall. J.K. Burgess, who is supervising the electrical work on the structure, and who was one of the eye witnesses, was just opposite Osborne and both were preparing to descend the ladder at the same time. R. L. Burgess his brother was about half way down the ladder. The latter know nothing of the accident until Osborne shot down through the air. Passed him, and struck the concrete floor. J.K. Burgess stated it appeared to him Osborne had attempted to step onto the ladder and his foot slipped. Whether Osborne had caught the ladder before attempting to step on it Mr. Burgess was unable to say. Mr. Burgess said Osborne's foot evidently struck the ladder after he started to fall and this caused his body to turn over in the air as his head appeared to have struck first. After Osborne's body turned, one arm is said to have scraped down the ladder.
When assistance reached Osborne two streams of blood were shooting from his nostrils, blood was oozing from his ears and his skull appeared to be laying wide open. He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where an examination of his injuries was made. So serious was the nature of his injuries life was despaired of from the start. The examination disclosed a fracture leading from just above the left ear to the middle of the forehead. At one place on the forehead the skull was crushed like ground up egg shell. The right arm was broken at the wrist. Osborne died about two hours after he was injured.
The accident occurred just at 12 o'clock. The men were quitting for thirty minutes lunch period and this accounted for the large number of workers who were about the ladder hole when Osborne fell. He was on the second floor and fell to the main floor which only last week was concreted.
Funeral Services for Harvey Osborne Largely Attended. Widow Prostrated with Grief.
Graham Shows Its Sympathy.
The funeral and burial of Harvey Osborne the unfortunate young man who met tragic death by a fall while at work on the new Hotel Bluefield Monday, took place yesterday afternoon. The services were largely attended and much sympathy shown the family in their sad loss.
Someone started a paper yesterday morning and Graham people showed their sympathy for the widow in a substantial way.
The Osborne family had only lived here a short while, but by thrift and hard work had established a little home down in the Bev Litz addition and were doing nicely and were happy together. A little babe four weeks old was left fatherless.
Monday evening when the remains of Mr. Osborne were brought home. Mrs. Osborne fainted and it was thought for a while she was dead. A Physician was summoned and with some difficulty she was revived.
Many neighbors visited the little cottage on Sargent Street all Monday evening and yesterday and everyone seemed anxious to do some act of sympathy or kindness. A number of the {unreadabele maybe 3 words} visted the home and did what they could for the stricken family.
Rev. Sneed of Bluefield, conducted the funeral services, which were held at the Christian Church. Several Graham parties sent their cars and nothing was left undone that would in any way help in lighten the burden of the grief stricken window in her hour of sadness.
William Harvey Osborne was buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA.
