Ila's death certificate has a question mark for her year of birth, but the age in years, months, and days, suggests it should be 1904 (but the age is qualified with an about). In the 1910 and 1930 censuses her age given suggests she was born in 1905, while the 1920 census suggests she was born about 1902. Whatever the actual year, she was close to 30 years old at her death.

Her father's name on the death certificate is given as Herbert H. Andrews, who was born in Georgia. On the 1910 census, Ila is listed as a boarder in the household of Harvey Moore in Portland, Multanomah Co., Oregon, along with a John H. Andrews, a 44-year-old divorced man born in Georgia, and Herbert J. Andrews, a 4-year-old boy born in Oregon; although the relationship of the three Andrewses to each other is not given, it seems apparent that John is the father of Ila and Herbert.
