Mayor of Cincinnati. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, he moved to Cincinnati and attained local fame as a semi-pro baseball player. He then became Chief Deputy of the Hamilton County Probate Court, and later became the City Auditor. Carrel, a member of the Republican Party, served as the Mayor from 1922 until 1925, and was the last person to be elected to that position by the people. He died at his residence in Cincinnati when he was 83 years old. His father, Hercules Carrel, built the famous steamboat, "The Natchez".
