Violet Louise Craig, 88, of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on August 11, 1922, at Bertrand, the second of six children born to Elmer Clarence and Myrtle Jane (Witters) Upthagrove.

Violet attended school at Bertrand and later she pursued higher education and received her BA at Arizona State University in History, and an AA in Liberal Arts and an AAS in Electronic Technology. On December 8, 1950, Violet was united in marriage to Russell Craig at Sacramento, California and to this union two children were born: Michael and Patricia. The family made their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Russell passed away on July 4, 1990, in Phoenix.

Violet was employed at Motorola in Scottsdale, Arizona. Violet enjoyed building clocks, collecting cookbooks, sewing and traveling. She was a member of the Bertrand Methodist Church.

Besides her parents and husband, Russell, Violet was preceded in death by infant twin sisters and an infant brother and sisters Ruby Ferguson and Gladys Mosley.

Violet leaves to mourn her passing her two children: Michael Craig and his wife, Tina of Phoenix, Patricia Craig of Holdrege; one grandchild, Jessie Craig of Flagstaff, Arizona; two sisters: Dianne Brown of Holdrege and Geri Heitmann of Cresent City, California, a special god daughter, Tammy May of Funk, Nebraska, the Eugene Hanson family, the Chad Bailey family and Chris Voshell, all of Holdrege and a host of relatives and friends.
