Mildred Aldene Bell Rogers, 96, died peacefully in Blacksburg April 15, 2011. The daughter of Benjamin and Maxine Bell, she was born on a homestead near Cut Bank, Mont., August 2, 1914. At the age of nine, she moved with her family to Pullman, Wash., where she lived until after graduating from Washington State University. She was a high school teacher prior to her marriage to Joseph (Joe) B. Rogers in 1939, and later was a secretary and administrative assistant at the United Statese Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. She was married to Joe for 45 years until his death in November 1984. In 2002, she moved to Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg and married her former college sweetheart Dewitt (Mickey) Maguire, who passed away in 2008. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Beverly Horsley and husband, Sam; her son, Robert Rogers and wife, Cosby; and her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rogers, whose husband Kenneth Rogers died April 10, 2000. Surviving grandchildren are Rebecca Johnston, Laura Horsley, Jennifer Dize, Sarah Rogers, and Wendy Wade. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Tanner, Haley, and Garrett Johnston, Riley and Jason Dize, and Mona and Nura Olson Rogers.
