Harry was a warm and loving man with a quick smile and a great sense of humor. He was born in Ossining, NY. After his father died at an early age, he and his mother and 6 brothers moved to Mt. Vernon, NY where he grew up and lived until he met and married Lillian Alice Burton. They moved to Eastchester, NY in 1919 and raised 8 children there. Harry worked for the Village of Scarsdale as Highway Forman retiring in 1955. After his own children were grown Harry and Lillian cared for 16 foster children over a period of 12 years sometimes as many as 5 at a time. They became like members of the family and even as adults referred to Lillian and Harry as Ma and Pa.
