Funeral services for Hollie Bell (Shorty) Fowler, 84, of 703 Pratt, are pending at Denton Funeral Home. He died Monday in a local nursing home.
Born in Fayette, Ala., he married Tabitha Nicholson in Cordova, Ala., in 1922. The couple moved to Carlsbad from Holmar, N.M., in 1933.
Fowler was a lineman for Southwestern Public Service Co. until his retirement in 1964. He was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Jack, Sacramento, Calif., and a sister, Ida Lint, of Oregon.

Services for Hollie Bell "Shorty" Fowler, 84, 703 Pratt St., will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in sunset Church of Christ with Jack Smith of Lakeview Christian Home officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Fowler Sr., John Fowler, Jr., James Fowler, Donnie Fowler, Jimmy Don Robinson, Randy Robinson, Lonnie Fowler, Bryan Fowler, Mark Fowler, Brent Fowler, R.H. Fowler, Russell Fowler, William Fowler, Kenneth Lloyd, Lauren Lloyd, Dough Lloyd and Dannie Fowler.
