Shirley M. Beatty, 82, Altoona, died Thurs., March 31, 2011 at home. She was born in Altoona to Charles R. & Josephine L. (Crosovelt) Vaughn. She married Donald A. Beatty on June 16, 1951, in Altoona. Survived by husband; 5 children: Richard & wife, Nancy, of Bellwood; Debra Harper & husband, Rodney, of Altoona; Ronald & wife, Kathie, of Altoona; Wendy Cowan & husband, Robert, of Altoona and Kevin & wife, Trina, of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren: Justin, Scott, Heidi, Tracey, Nathan, Jonathan, Aimie, Alyssa, Angela and Brandi; 6 great grandchildren; and 6 sisters: Betty Mock of Harrisonburg, VA; Doris Geiner, Nancy Hamer and Barbara Park, all of Altoona, Joanna Davis of Galloway, OH and Peggy Fochler of Smyrna, GA. Predeceased by brother, Robert Vaughn. Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired as a secretary for Beatty's Carpet Cleaners and had previously been employed as an operator for 6 years for Bell Telephone. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona. Shirley loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Altoona. Interment, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
