Born Elizabeth Catherine Coast, the daughter of Carlile Cross and Delila Gertrude Huffman Coast. She married John Phipps Martin on September 1, 1883. Lizzie and John were the parents of Lillie Catherine (Phipps), Teena May, Sylvia Florence, Gertrude Delilah (Surrena), Mary Grace (Adams), Lonie May (McFadden), Hazel Barbara (Durham), Williemine Wilda (Hoffman), Myrta Huntsberger (Hovis, Shoup), Pearl Emley (Young, Berringer), Joseph Carlile, John Lee, Wilbur Carl and Frank Lucein Martin.
