"Mrs Rosetta Rogers Bewley, only daughter of the late Hiram and Caroline Rogers, was born in Sparta township, Crawford county, on March 23, 1856, and went to be with the Lord Monday, March 16, 1942. Mrs Bewley was a member of the Methodist church of Spartansburg, a Christian because she had faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour. She was a most kind and loving mother, always thoughtful of others and a real friend. While declining in health for years and not able to take part in outside activities, she greatly enjoyed her home, family and friends, as she was seriously ill only a few days. Services in her memory were held from the Methodist church at 2 o'clock, preceded by prayer at the home at 1:30, with the pastor, Rev Arnold Lundberg, assisted by Rev J A Waugaman of the Baptist church, officiating. The services included the reading of the hymns 'Abide With Me' and 'Sunrise.' Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. She leaves the following children: Ray L Bewley, San Francisco, Cal; Roy M Bewley, RD, Corry; Miss Mae Bewley at home; Guy H Bewley, Red Bluff, Calif; [and] Mrs Ray Crosby, RD, Spartansburg. There are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jesse Rogers, of Sparta township. A brother, Ancil Rogers, aged 19 years, passed away May 25, 1878. Also [surviving are] many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Friends and relatives were present from Corry, Beaverdam, Union City, Columbus, Jamestown and Youngsville."
