OBITUARY


Gordon J. Courneya, age 71, of Hammond, passed away Monday, May 20 at St. Margaret hospital.

Survivors: wife, Lila; two sons, Martin James of California, Eugene (Judy) of Hammond; two daughters, Lillian (James) Bement of Hammond; Patricia (Glenn) Savage of Texas; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great- grandchildren; one sister, Mary Hardy of St. Paul. Minn.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Solan Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond and at 10 a.m. at St. John Bosco Church with Msgr. Everard Klein celebrating the mass. Burial, St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 8:15 p.m.

He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 531 in LaPorte. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society and of the National Council of Senior Citizens. He was a Hammond area resident 33 years and a retired electrician.
