He was born on August 10, 1941, in Nelson County, to the late Earl and Margaret Palmer Barbour.
Mr. Barbour served his country in the United States Army and later retired as a technician with Sears after many years of service. He enjoyed spending his time fishing and playing guitar but most of all the time he spent with his family. He was a devoted husband for 36 years and a very loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Barbour; two daughters, Nicole Barbour of Madison and Regina Barbour of Ruckersville; one sister, Lorine Brown of Charlottesville; and four grandchildren, Keira, Colby, Aiden and Andrew Barbour.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Johnson; and his best friend and nephew, Massie Johnson.
The family received friends Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Ryan Funeral Home with the Reverend James Ragland officiating and military honors provided by the United States Army.
