Marjorie Belle Beckman, 82, of Reading, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000 at the Laurels of Coldwater.
She was born June 24, 1918 in Reading Township to Howard and Katie (Jagger) Beem and graduated from Reading High School in 1936. Mrs. Beckman was a member of the Reading United Methodist Church and former West Reading United Methodist, the UMW and the "Burg and Brown Extension Club".
Feb. 8, 1945 she married Otto E. Beckman, and he preceded her in death in 1989.
Surviving are three daughters, Janice and Steve Simons of Jonesville, Karis and Anwer Ali, Lexington, Ky. and Karen and Raymond Shaffer of Temperance; one sister, Carolyn and Robert Flint of Quincy; and one brother, Robert and Ercile Been of Reading; four grandchildren, Amy Blodget, Jon Haynes, Jennifer Lasich, and Eliana Shaffer; and eight great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by one sister, one grandson and one great grandson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, Reading, with the Rev. Kathy Nitz and Dennis Dubendorf officiating. Per Mrs. Beckman's request, there will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Reading United Methodist Church, Hospice, or the Humane Society.
Arrangements are by St. John-White Funeral Home, Reading."
