STEELE -- Elizabeth Rath, 89, Golden Manor Nursing Home, Steele, died Feb. 10, 1997, in the nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Thursday at United Methodist Church, Tuttle, with the Rev. Marvin Winstryg officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, where a prayer service will begin at 7 tonight.

Elizabeth Aichele was born March 27, 1907, in Alacap, Romania, the daughter of Johann and Maria (Nitschke) Aichele. She came with her parents and other family members to the United States in July of 1913 to settle on a farm northeast of Tuttle. On Jan. 3, 1929, she married Jake J. Rath in Tuttle. The couple then farmed in the Tuttle community until the mid-fifties, when they moved into town. Jake died Jan. 2, 1981. Elizabeth continued to make her home in Tuttle until moving to the Golden Manor in Steele in December.
Elizabeth was an active member of Tuttle United Methodist Church. She held offices in the United Methodist Women and in the church school. A diligent student of the Bible, she taught the adult Sunday school class for many years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Theodor and Bernice, Rock Lake, and Ray and Mavis, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Art Meyer, Seattle; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Eichele, Lake Williams; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Rath, Lincoln, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Lavina Aichele, Detroit Lake, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Leon; an infant daughter, Delores; three sisters, Rose Wetzel, Pauline Spitzer and Eva Rembold; and four brothers, William, John, Fred and Adam.
