CAROLYN T. GANT, 62, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur. Born in Welch, W.Va., she graduated from Mount Vernon High School, in New York, and worked as a teacher with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 16 years. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Her number one joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, she and her husband were classic car enthusiast and also enjoyed watching sports together. Surviving are her husband, Adolphus Gant; mother, Odessa Price of Decatur, Ga.; daughters, Michelle (Shawn) Gant-Alexander of Fort Wayne, Tanya (Dereick) Gant-Heard of Union City, Ga. and Valencia Gant of Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughters, Carmela Alexander and Jillian Heard; grandson, Justin Alexander; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Price Sr. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Calhoun, with Fr. Celso Gomes officiating. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m., at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
