My cousin Dickie lost his life in a tragic automobile accident while he was a young Marine. He was traveling home while on leave from Camp Pendelton, CA.

Family members recall the deep sadness surrounding the loss of such a fine accomplished young man, the firstborn son of my Auntie Aileen.

Dick left behind his young wife, Janice Eickhoff Hanning. They were married on 11-9-1963 in San Mateo, when both were just 19 years old. Also surviving were his Mother, Father, Step-Father and two half-brothers. Dickie was also survived by an extended family of many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Gravesite Details

Thanks to Suzanne Starling for taking the original gravestone photograph. My gratitude to the administrators at Golden Gate National Cemetery for later placing a brand new gravestone for Cousin Dick and to Tom Brocher for photographing the new one
