He was born the 9th of 12 children of John Moroni Taylor and Caroline Pearl Tanner on January 14, 1933 in Duchesne, Utah. He was raised in Mountain Home , Utah. At the age of 16, he left home to work on a sheep ranch in Colorado.
On February 1, 1956, he married the love of his life, Verda Anne Bentley in Echo, Utah. They were sealed for eternity in the Logan Temple on February 12, 1957. To this union were born 5 children, 1 daughter & 4 sons. Verda died in October 24, 1980.
On September 1, 1989, Preston married Barbara Joan Dye in Roosevelt, Utah. Their married was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 11, 1991.
Preston has worked a number of jobs during his life, spending 20 years as a guager with Chevron Pipe Line. After his retirement in 1995, he spent his summers driving truck for a variety of employers and at the time of his death was looking forward to another summer as a fuel truck driver for Classic Helicopter of Woods Cross, Utah in the Challis area of the BLM.
Preston was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in variety of positions throughout his life.
Preston is survived by his wife, Barbara of Inkom, Idaho; son, Mike (Rose) of Vernal, Utah; daughter, Carol (Jeff) Henderson of Roosevelt, Utah; son, David (Becky) of Ogden, Utah; son, Bryan (Sandy) of Neola, Utah; son, Danny (Karleen) of Evanston, Wyoming; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; with three on the way. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Colleen Justice, Lyman, Wyoming; Allie Brown of Loa, Utah; sisters-in-law, Letha Taylor, Connie Taylor, brother-in-law, Harry Thayne; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda, his parents, grandparents, one son, Rocky Swain, 2 grandsons, twin granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 great grandson, 6 brothers, 3 sisters.
