Mrs. Emma Garey, 79, died on Thursday at Stafford District Hospital after a short illness of leukemia. She was born August 16, 1893 near Hico, West Virginia. The family moved to the Stafford community in 1899 where she had lived ever since.
Emma was married to Ralph B. Garey January 28, 1920 at Stafford. To this union was born one son Brunell of Minneapolis Min.
She was a member of the Stafford Nazarene Church for 24 years and a member of the Union Center Church 20 years before that. For the past 30 years she has served as an inspiration to the children of this community as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the North Star Community Club and World War II Mothers Club.
Survivors include her husband, son, Brunell, Minneapolis, Minn., brother Frank Hawver, Stafford; sister, Mrs. Marie Figger, Stafford; two grandchildren Dick and Don, Minneapolis; and many nephews, niecesm and cousins. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peacock-Milton Funeral Chapel, Stafford. The Rev. Ralph Hughes and Rev. Jim Lynch officiated. Burial was in the Stafford Cemetery.
