Mildred Wherry
NEWARK — Mildred Ermalee Griffin Beeler Wherry, 80, of Newark died Sunday, July 23, 2006, in Newport.
Born March 7, 1926, at Newark, she was the daughter of Henry and Esther Troy Griffin. She had attended Newark High School and was a member of Newark Church of Christ. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and crocheting.
Survivors include a stepson, John Wherry of Louisville, Ky.; three stepdaughters, Wanda Wilson and Pat Gardner, both of Newark, and Pam Sharp of Batesville; three sisters, Pauline Wherry of Charlotte, Marie Yates of Mountain View and Esther Lee Handy of Longmont, Calif.; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Beeler; her second husband, Edgar Hale Wherry; a stepson, Jerry Wherry; and four brothers, Oran Griffin, R.H. Griffin, Jimmy Marion Griffin and Jack Griffin.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newark Church of Christ with Danny Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Tunstall Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newark Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
