J. B. Matthews of Chappell Hill, aged fifty-two years, died at his home at that place at four o'clock, Thursday morning, after a lingering illness having been in bad health a long time. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the Chappell Hill Cemetery.
Decedent was born and reared in Washington County, and spent practically his entire life in the Chappell Hill community, where he had numerous friends who will deeply mourn his death. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Dora Matthews; several children; and a brother, D. H. Matthews. For some time he had been the capable and efficient manager of the Riverside Plantation.
A number of friends from Brenham went to Chappell Hill to attend the obsequies.
