Mary G. Beane
Mary Gladys Nuzum Beane went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2005, after an extended illness. Mrs. Beane was a resident of the Braxton County Health Care Center in Flatwoods, W.Va.
Born on June 12, 1913, in O'Brion (Clay County), W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lazarus and Ada Belle Tucker Nuzum.
She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Gassaway, where she served as deacon and elder. Along with her husband, Price, she was the owner and operator of Beane's Market in Gassaway. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Braxton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was the 1996 recipient of the "Mary Stewart Award" in the GFWC Gassaway Chapter and served as Historian for many terms.
Mrs. Beane is survived by her three sons, John E. Beane, M.D. and wife, Kathy, of Parkersburg, Sterling P. Beane Sr. and wife, Judy, of Gassaway and F. Stephen Beane of Gassaway; one granddaughter, Kathryn "Katy" S. Beane of Parkersburg; four grandsons, J.D. Beane and Brenda of Parkersburg, David J. Beane, M.D. and wife, Carrie, of Vienna, Michael E. Beane, M.D. of Vienna and Sterling P. Beane Jr. and wife, Monica, of Gassaway; and one great-grandson, Sterling "Price" Beane III of Gassaway.
Mrs. Beane was preceded in death by her husband, Price F. Beane in 1975; two brothers, Charles Nuzum and Sanford Nuzum; four sisters, Thelma Frame, Ruth Hawkins, Ruby "Billie" Carr and Mildred Nuzum; and one infant granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Beane, all of Braxton County.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, Gassaway. Interment will follow at Beall's Mill Cemetery, Gassaway. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Braxton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 100 Hoylman Dr., Gassaway, WV 26624; Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 376, Gassaway, WV 26624; or to the charity of your choice.
