Clarence Edwards Funeral Services Are Held At Oney
Funeral services for Clarence A. Edwards, Oney, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Oney Baptist church with Jack Stewart officiating, assisted by Rev. Lee Slatten. Burial was in the Oney cemetery.
Mr. Edwards, 77, died at his home at Oney Sunday morning following a stroke a short time earlier. He operated the Oney gin for many years. He was born March 28, 1879, in Johnson county, Ark. He married the former Miss Florence Parker in Clarksville, Ark., on April 5, 1900. He and his family moved to Oney in 1913 where he had farming interests and the gin.
Survivors include the wife of the home; three sons, Drew and Hoyt of Oney, and Cecil of Porterville, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Estella Thomas of Oney and Mrs. Dave Tice, Temple City, Calif.; five brothers, Anderson Edwards of Stockton, Frank of Bowie, Charlie of Cyril, Clem of Carnegie, and Jasper Edwards, Austin, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Jeannett Rhey, Anderson, Ind., and Mrs. Annie Riley of Pryor; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
