Based upon the Calvary Lutheran Church funeral record (used as the basis for the inscription) Mari was born in 1824.

The 1865 Norwegian Census record placed Mari's age at 43, indicating she was born in 1822 or 1821 (depending on whether the census took place before or after July 1865).

The parish record for Mari and Ole's marriage indicated Mari was 18 3/4 on the date of her marriage, July 4, 1844, indicating Mari's year of birth as 1825.

The census records for the United States in 1900 listed Mari's birth as July 1823. With all the conflicting data, it was difficult to verify her true date of birth.

After I had the marker created I eventually confirmed Mari's siblings (Rasmus, Martha and Susanna) and allowed me to verify the names of Mari's parents. With that additional information I tracked down her Norwegian baptism/birth record and confirmed Mari was born in 1823, NOT 1821, 1822, or 1824. So unfortunately the inscription on the Finnestad monument is off by one year.
