Mrs. Bearie Rauls Coleman was born September 30, 1903, in Oakwood, Freestone County, Texas to Anderson and Willie Alford Rauls; she was the eldest of two children. She attended school and spent her early childhood in Freestone County and there she met T. J. Coleman, Senior, who became here husband in 1919. It was the beginning of an era for them that proved to be the pillar of strength, inspiration and love for the family (13 children and one adopted son). Mrs. Coleman and her family moved to Floydada, Floyd County, Texas in 1929. In the Floydada community, she never met a stranger and thrived on the many friends she acquired there. Family was first and foremost to Mrs. Coleman, but she also took pleasure in cooking, gardening, fishing, and offering her assistance to those in need.
Mrs. Coleman is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six children —Willie Mae Stephens, Anderson Coleman, Florine Mann, Myrtle Coleman, Allen Rochelle Coleman, and T. J. Coleman, Junior. She leaves with cherished memories, a family who was fortunate to call her "Mother," her daughters Ruth Popnaugh, Pearl Cooper-Thompson (Andrew). Bettye King (James), and Marie Jones; her sons Joe Coleman (Mary), Chester Coleman (Dorothy), Paul Coleman, and Quinn Coleman; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
