Daniel King moved his family from Carlinville, Illinois to Dowling, South Dakota in 1908 after his wife passed. They travelled by covered wagons and walking. Daniel passed and the town realize that a cemetery was needed so the Ramey family donated the land and Daniel King was the first to buried at the Dowling Cemetery. Later Daniel's two sons and daughter in law were buried at Dowling Cemetery with other families with loved ones are there. The church has been moved since cemetery was created. can only visit in summer and no rain recent as roads can be muddy.
