She met and married Oscar Blue on March 9, 1934. To this union six children were born, of which two preceded her in death.
Oscr and Lillie were married for 64 years until his passing in 1998.
While in Georgia, Lillie accepted and received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of William Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until moving to Hamtramck, Michigan in 1950.
Lillie attended Leland Baptist Church and later joined New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her health began to fail her in later years.
She enjoyed being at home raising her children.
She departed this life in the early morning on December 30, 2010.
Lillie leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Catherine Edge and Mary Kaigler; sons, Eddie L. and James E. Blue (Joycelyn); six grandchildren, Pete and Anthony Edge, Cherly Lynn Micou (Mitchell), Tony (Shante), James E. and Stephanie Diane Blue; eight great-grandchildren: Tierra Harrison, Brad and Natasha Edge, Chemar and Andria Micou, Darryl Kl, Capreace and Anthony J. Blue; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Service was held Thursday, January 6, 2011; 10:00 A.M. Family Hour . 11:00 A.M. Homegoing - New Ebenezer Baptist Church; 6300 Hartford Avenue, Detroit, MI 48210; Rev. Wallace R. Mills, Jr. Pastor - Presiding; Rev. Nathaniel Slappey, Pastor - Officiating New St. Luke Baptist Church
