-- FORT LAWN - Mrs. Laura "Mae" Starnes Elders, 78, of 5318 Knollwood Drive passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Services for Mrs. Elders will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, with the Revs. Johnny King and Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road.

Born in York County, S.C., Mrs. Elders was the daughter of the late William F. and Effie McAbee Starnes. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from J. P. Stevens, Industrial Plant. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elders was preceded in death by her husbands, David Hope and Edward Elders; and her son, Tommy Hope.

Mrs. Elders is survived by her sons, Ronald Hope (Gloria) and William Elders (Tracey), all of Rock Hill and Lamar Hope (Debbie) of Hardeville, S.C.; and daughters, Vickie H. Conner, Kaye Colvin (Harry) and Phyllis Lamb (Kenny), all of Rock Hill, and Lutricia H. Oxendine (Tony) of Fletcher, N.C.; her sisters, Betty Green of York and Genora Westmoreland of Rock Hill; companion, Marion Kimbrell; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
