Roy Gordon Leu 70, route 3 died at 10:34 A.M. Thursday Dec. 9, 1993, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Luthern Church with the Rev. Dr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Mount Pleasant.Visitation will be open from noon till 5 p.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral home. The family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A Memorial has been established to First Luthern Church, Handicap Accessible Fund.

Leu was born Oct. 15, 1923 in Lockridge, the son of Christian O. and Mertie C. Jannings Leu. He graduated from Lockridge High School in 1940. On June 6, 1943 he married Laura Mae Rubey at the First Luthern Church parsonage in Fairfield. The Rev. Dr. E.A. Piper officiated.

He had farmed in Liberty Township in Jefferson County for most of his life and was a member of the First Luthern Church. He played string bass and piano in the Leu Band and other bands for many years.,

Surviving are his wife; three sons; Gary Eugene of Albuquerque NM., Greg Joe of Iowa City and Kreg Leo of Fairfield; a daughter; Donna Jean Hagerman of Marshalltown: 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother Clifford O. of Cedar Rapids, and a sister Ruth M. Ruhl of Clinton, Arkansas. His parents; six brothers, Henry, John, Lliff, Edison, Paul, Harvey and three sisters; preceded him in death.
