Karen Lorraine Durland, of Montgomery, Illinois passed away while surrounded by her family on Friday, February 15, 2002 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, Illinois. She was born on September 10, 1942 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of John and Lorraine (Hochsprung) Miller.
    Karen was united in marriage on December 4, 1992 at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Aurora, Illinois to Mr. Kenneth "Kenny" Durland and they spent the next nine happy years of their lives together. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.
    Mrs. Durland was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, Illinois. Karen's most cherished moments were those spent with her grandchildren. She devoted some of her time to helping others in her church, and she enjoyed making floral arrangements and wall decorators. She was employed for many years as a teller at Bank One.
    She is survived by her mother, Lorraine Miller of Montgomery; her husband, Kenny Durland of Montgomery; her children, Todd (Pam) Nass of Aurora, Jennifer (Mike) Spillane of Batavia; and Kara (Rick) Balicki of Batavia; her step sons, Danny "Bud" (Kris) Durland of Sheridan and Denny "Buster" Durland of Sugar Grove; her grandchildren Jessica Durland, Ryan Spillane, Kelsey Spillane, Megan Durland, Trisha Spillane, Alec Nass, Logan Durland, Bradley Balicki, Trevor Spillane, Benjamin Nass and Nicole Balicki; her sister Kathie (John) Thorne of Winfield and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her father, John Miller.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Durland will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 18, 2002 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, Illinois with Pastor Dan Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, Illinois. A luncheon will follow at Cross Lutheran Church, 8609 Rt. 47, Yorkville, Illinois.
    Serving as Pallbearers will be Jeff Thorne, Christ Siambekos, Steve Walters, Denny "Buster" Durland, Mike Willman and Jeff Steinwart.
    Friends may call from 2 until 6pm on Sunday, February 17, 2002 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy, Yorkville, Illinois.
    Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
