A Pioneer Dies – Death claimed another old settler in Stockbridge, Mrs. Andrew Stevens, who died at her home on the road near the lake. Deceased was born March 19, 1825, at Lockport, New York, her maiden name being Louisa Blinn; she was married on Mach 22, 1842, and came with her husband to Wisconsin in 1849 settling in the town of Forest, Fond du Lac County, enduring the hardships incidental to pioneer days. They came to the town of Stockbridge in 1862, during the late civil war and had a share in contributing to the prosperity of the town ever since by their quiet and conscientious lives.
Mr. Stevens preceded her in death on their wedding anniversary March 22, 1896. Their union was blessed with nine children of which six are living to mourn their loss. They are as follows; Harmon Stevens, Andrew Stevens, Misses Hattie and Orrie Stevens and Edward Stevens of Minnesota. Deceased was shut in for a great many years with infirmities and the last four years has been an invalid but was cared for with diligence by her daughters and solicitious friends. A large concourse of friends assembled at the Congregation church Sunday afternoon to pay their respects to the departed, her remains being interred at Lakeside cemetery, Pastor S. G. Ruegg officiating.
