Clifton O'Neil Mackereth, 70, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Towson, Md.
Born Nov. 1, 1935, in Town Creek, Md., he was the son of the late Clifton H. and Evelyn Gertrude Robertson Mackereth.
His wife, Pauline Virginia Thompson Stevens Mackereth, died in 1996.
He was employed by the Western Maryland Railway, retiring in 1999.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 10 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by three sisters, Gay P. Younker of Hancock, and E. Ann Strubel and Carol S. Whitmore, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Richard D. Mackereth and Larry W. Mackereth, both of Hagerstown; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Elliott M. Mackereth.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, Hagerstown. The Revs. Thomas Smith and Bill Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
