"August was a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of the Sumner community. He died suddenly on Friday at 9 p.m. after suffering an apparent heart attack on the street following the Christmas drawing in downtown Sumner. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at St. John's American Lutheran Church with Pastor John Mohr officiating.
August was baptized in infancy at St. John's Church by Rev. Herman Bredow & was confirmed in this same church by the same pastor on April 7, 1901. He was a lifelong member of this church. Mr. Blume farmed in this community & also sold feed & seed for many years."
