Nancy was a widow when she met James Sellers Dobbins, who had just returned from the Civil War. They married in Douglas County, Kansas in 1867. Baby Mary was born first, but she only lived 1 year. Then sons Robert Gaston and Walter Scott (called Gaston and Scott) arrived. The family moved to Ft. Lyons, where Jim freighted and carried mail. After homesteading just south of Las Animas, the family made Las Animas their home. Nancy is buried in a grave with no stone. The cemetery records list her as Mos Dobbins and refuse to be corrected. But we, her descendants, honor her there anyway.
