Wayne Ambrose, a resident of Midland City passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Extendicare Health and Rehab. He was 75.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Interment services with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 3-4 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made in Wayne's name to help others in need and "pay it forward."

Wayne was born on April 20, 1935 in Anderson County, South Carolina and lived there the early part of his life. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and voluntarily served one tour in Korea and three tours in Vietnam. He served his country honorably in the military service for 21 years until his retirement in 1973. Following his distinguished military career he worked in many fields of the aerospace and aircraft industry. He loved aviation and was also a motorcycle enthusiast and lived life to the fullest. Wayne was one of the kindest and most generous men you would have had the privilege of knowing. He was preceded in death by his loving family including his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 30 years, Jan Ambrose, who traveled hand in hand with her husband together on life's journey; a brother and a sister both of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home, (334) 983-6604, is in charge of arrangements.
