Obituary;
"Mrs Annie Allen Passes to Reward"
Memorial Service Conducted Last Saturday Afternoon.
While our country was just beginning a war, there came to the home of John Nelson and Susan Strode, on July 31, 1861, a little girl who was to live and see several wars for greater than the one that was being fought when she entered this troubled world, She came to Kansas when sixteen years of age and spent practically all her life here in Smith County.

Annie was married to Robert William Stinson, December 23, 1878, and this union reared eleven children, seven of whom survive, along with several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mr Stinson died in 1912 and in 1918 she was united in marriage to Amos Allen, who died in 1934, again leaving her to widowhood.
Her surviving children are Ruth D. O'Niell; Smith Center, Minnie Huston of Topeka, Charles of Arkansas, John and Henry of Liberty, Texas...and Sam of Enid, Oklahoma, Also surviving is one of half sister, Mrs George Hammond of Smith Center.
Proceding her in death were Irene and Dora Stinson, Thomas Stinson, Andrew Stinson and Mrs Laura James.
Coming into this world in the midst of a war, our mother left this world while yet another war was in the making, and she had passed through several wars during her long lifetime. She was convented at the age of 19 years. Mother left this world on Thursday afternoon in Smith Center at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 16 days.
Man's best friend is his mother, and so we who remain here have lost our best friend. She lingered here a long, long time and we commit her soul to the God who gave it, for a well-earned, peaceful rest. Memorial services were held at two o'clock from Simmons-Olliff mortuary with Rev. C.A. Riley in charge. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Marriage date in obituary as Dec 23, 1878, it Actually was on 25 Dec 1878 as they applied for marriage license on 23 Dec 1878 & got married on 25 Dec 1878.
